In 1949, it had
been ten years since Fred and Ginger had starred
in a film together.
The Barkleys was to be their final appearance
as a team, and their first and only film together in Technicolor.
They play a husband and wife dancing team who are split up by her desire
to go into more serious acting roles. (Notice any resemblance to the real
team of Astaire & Rogers?) The old magic is still there, but
it is nostalgic, one last encore for filmdom's greatest dance team. |
