She also asks him what he does when he's not working; Marlowe plays along with this line. Temporarily.

her to 'sugar him off' the case, perhaps it was Eddie Mars? Immediately on the
defensive, Vivian denies that Mars had any part in this and she leaves abruptly,
saying "We could've had a lot of fun if you weren't a detective."
