In Break of Hearts (1935) Boyer co-starred with a young Katharine Hepburn, the only time they worked together.
He plays a temperamental conductor who marries aspiring composer Hepburn but fails to take her or their marriage seriously for very long. 

After causing her lots of suffering, he does have to pay for his thoughtless dalliances, turning to the evils of drink and ruin. Until the final fadeout, of course, where love redeems all.

Hepburn is noble and sincere, Boyer selfish and charming; although their performances don't entirely rise above the soggy script, "Break of Hearts" is a good opportunity to see two fine actors early in their respective careers.
