Beyond the Forest (1949)  Restless Rosa (Bette Davis) is bored with her hick town, her hardworking doctor husband (Cotten), in fact, her whole life. She craves excitement and adventure, but when she dallies with big-city bigshot David Brian, things begin to go downhill rapidly.  (The oft-used quote, "What a dump!" originated here.)
The Farmer's Daughter (1947)   Loretta Young won the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of a Swedish maid who takes on politics (and corrupt politicians). Cotten is thoroughly engaging as the young senator completely taken with her.
Half Angel (1951)   Enjoyable fluff. Loretta Young's a nurse with a sleep-walking problem. Cotten's her long lost childhood sweetheart whom she detests by day and seductively pursues by night.
Journey into Fear  (1943) Cotten becomes embroiled in some mysterious goings-on and winds up being pursued by Nazi agents.  Orson Welles plays a blustery Turkish intelligence officer who takes Cotten under his wing...or does he?
The Killer is Loose  (1956) Cotten's a cop on the trail of escaped convict Wendell Corey. Corey's set on getting to Cotten's wife (Rhonda Fleming) and taking revenge for the killing of his own wife.
Love Letters (1945)  Glossy and soooo romantic. Cotten writes letters for a war-time friend to the friend's girl, which ends up causing some serious trouble. The luminous Jennifer Jones is the enchanting woman without a past with whom Cotten falls in love.  This is a good one.
Man With A Cloak (1951) Spooky Gothic piece with Leslie Caron as young Frenchwoman seeking her fiance's inheritance in 1848 New York. Cotten's a mysterious gent who helps protect her from predatory Barbara Stanwyck and her cohorts. Surprise twist at the end.
The Steel Trap (1952)  Tense movie with Cotten as a banker who hatches a plan to steal a million dollars from the bank's vault and escape with his wife (Teresa Wright) to Brazil. Of course, things don't quite go the way he'd planned.
