Mary Pickford became a queen of the silent screen and "America's Sweetheart."
Ms. Pickford co-founded United Artists Studio in 1919 with Charlie Chaplin
and her then-husband Douglas Fairbanks Sr. She retired in 1933, wrote her memoirs,
and after divorcing Fairbanks became the wife of Charles "Buddy" Rogers, another silent film star.
