He brought such subtlety and nuance to his performance in "The Best Years of Our Lives". It's because of his performance that I continue to watch that movie whenever I can (usually on TCM). And that killer smile-who could resist?

It is really a shame that a major star like Dana Andrews does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Something should be done to rectify that mistake.

Thanks to the celluloid we will always remember the often underrrated perfomances of Carver Dana Andrews. I especially adore his contributions to the film noir genre. Movies like Laura, Fallen Angel and Where the Sidewalk Ends are unequally interesting and of high historical importance. Indeed it's a shame that he didn't receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (which can still be fixed as these stars are for sale). But no tawdry pink terrazzo star can replace the memory of his fine acting, his subtle smile and look and his slight discomfort, which all made him so remarkable.

Growing up in L.A. in the 1950s, I always admired Dana Andrews' SOLIDITY---alone among the golden age stars, his performances were stand-alone exemplars of naturalistic acting. That he never received an Academy Award nomination is a disgrace.
If I ever had a role model for what a man is, it was DANA ANDREWS, no second choice. OF COURSE I fell short.
I'm 61 now and have seen a lot---I managed movie theaters NYC, was in the USMC in Asia, etc. I've always flattered myself that I was a hard man.
But when the news broke of his death, I sat down and cried like a baby---No, BAWLED like a baby.

I'm a huge fan of Dana Andrews, the best but underrated actor of his generation. The way he gazed, smiled and talked built up a kind of charm that is rarely seen nowadays. He is the kind of man who you will never forget ever since you take a glance.
I love his performances in Laura, State Fair, Fallen Angel, The Best Years of Our Lives, Boomerang, Where the Sidewalk Ends, While the City Sleeps and Night of the Demon.
