Babette Samelson Whipple | @ I fist met your grandfather in the spring of 1930 when I was in school in Cannes. Your grandfather, who was a close friend of my father, Monroe M. Goldstein, sent for me to have lunch with him at the Negresco Hotel in Nice. I remember his showing me how to cut a deck of cards in half with his hands. Subsequently during the 2 summers (1938 & 1939) when I visited my father, Monroe M. Goldstein, who had bought an old farm house in a secluded canyon at the end of Beverly Drive, I was a frequent guest of Eddie and his wife Gladys in their beautiful home, which was not far away.
