Tonight I was sharing my most recent finds in my genealogical research with my uncle. He related a story to me that I'd like to share with you. He said that he remembers being a young child with his mom at Ocean Park when Eddie came up to his mother to greet her. He said that he remembered her from their home in Roumania. I checked your website tonight to see where he was from in Roumania. I see you have "Bucharest." My grandmother always said she was from "Bacu." Do you know this shtetl name?

Francesca:

I know that this query is outside of your focus. but.

Do you know anything about Gladys Lloyd's other children (beyond Eddie Jr.) - or grand-children?

She was married before meeting EGR, and had (at least) a daughter.

I knew Mrs. Robinson's grand-daughter in the '60's

The grand-daughter's maiden name was Lisa Kroman.

I've quite lost track of her and wondered if you had any leads.

Thanks, Ron

To Bob: Another detail - the little boy in A BOY TEN FEET TALL was an orphan that Robinson's character befriends, not his grandson or nephew. His trek southward across the African continent gave the film its titles.

To Bob in Texas: Another Bob, here, in St. Louis, taking the liberty of responding to your question; the film was A BOY TEN FEET TALL (known also as SAMMY GOING SOUTH in the United Kingdom, I think) and based on a book of the latter title. It was shot in 1963 but not distributed for a year or two. Edward G. Robinson suffered a heart attack during the filming, and there's a lot of back story about it.

What was the name of the Edward G. Robinson movie where he was in Africa and shot the elephant gun for his grandson or nephew?
