To Ian Payne: Taking the liberty of responding to some of your questions about Sir Cedric Hardwicke and Edward G. Robinson, they both appeared in "The Ten Commandments" in 1956, although they shared no scenes. Robinson made a film of the play, "The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse" (1938), in which Hardwicke appeared in New York. Sorry, I don't know of other connections. Good luck with your book.

Dear Madam,

What a lovely site to a real Hollywood film star of the highest order - HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY !!!

I am writing a book about the late great British born Hollywood actor Sir Cedric Hardwicke who was born in LYE in Worcestershire [ENGLAND] in 1893. He went to the USA with the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Charles Boyer, Leslie Howard and Victor Saville.

Sir Cedric starred in Hollywood films around the same time as Edward G Robinson. I wondered if you :

1]Would like to contribute a tribute to Sir Cedric's work etc in my book ?

2]Could tell me if Edward G Robinson ever worked with and/or met/knew Sir Cedric Hardwicke ?

My Gran was 100 when she passed away in 2003 and she was a great fan of your Grandfather's. Her comment to me a few weeks before her death was :

".there ain't any better than the oldens"

Either send your response via e-mail or pigeon post - I don't mind.

BEST WISHES,

IAN PAYNE.

Hi Francesca,

How are you? My name is Gary, I run a website called "The Midnight Palace". We focus on old movies, classic and obscure, from 1900-1955. I will soon be starting a regular section which focuses on a specific actor/actress. Your grandfather will be one of the first spotlighted actors! :) I was wondering if you'd be interested in contributing to his page with a nice recollection or story, some input, etc.? I cannot post URLs in here, but you can get the site address from my email address!

Thank you for your time Francesca :)

JUST FINISHED READING YOUR GRANDFATHERS
AUTOBIOGRAPHY ALL MY YESTERDAYS AND THORUGHLY ENJOYED IT. ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T AGREE FULLY WITH HIS POLITICAL VIEWS. YOUR GRANDFATHER WAS ONE HELL OF AN ACTOR AND A CREDIT TO HIS PROFESSION. HIS CALIBER OF ACTING IS SADLY MISSED AS WELL AS HE HIMSELF.
