She was killed in an accident Jan 29/29 age 52 years. I believe she is either the sister of Emmanuel Goldenberg, or his first cousin. D'vora's parents were Stephan Goldenberg & Esther Zader. Robinson and his films for years. I remember watching him in the Cincinatti Kid - That made me want to be 'the man' as a worldclass poker player! I remember watching A BOY TEN FEET TALL, also, which made me wish that I could go on Safari with your wonderful grandfather. He was the kind of man that I always wished I had for a father/grandfather. And when I watch SOYLENT GREEN, well who can keep from tears when he dies in the movie knowing he died 2 weeks after the film was finished. He was such a great actor, definately one-of-a-kind! The world is lesser for his loss but at least he have a lifetime of his movies to remember him by, and we have you to tell us memories we are yet to have. Can I ask - in what film did your grandfather seem most 'just like himself'? Also, did he die peacefully? He was such a gentleman in life he deserved a peaceful passing. ROBINSON! 22 August 2005 - Topeka, KS, USA Response:   Dear Kevin, Eddie has said many times that the Cincinnati Kid character -Lancey Howard, most resembled him off-screen. Also, the character of Doctor Ehrlich in Doctor Erlich's Magic Bullet. (His favorite 'early period' film due to it's humanistic and intellectual outlook) He passed as peacefully as one could expect of someone who suffered through the trauma of cancer. By the way, Kevin, The Boy Ten Feet Tall was also one of my favorite films. Upon returning home from Africa, Eddie regaled me with wonderful stories.. There are but a handful of autobiographies that have left me with the feeling that I have actually met and, not only listened to but in a strange and unexplainable way, talked with the author. As a aging student of theatre who has marveled at Mr. Robinson's performances on film, it is wonderful to read of his theatre roots. I am finding so much personal relevancy in his obsevations and related experiences and I just wanted to express my appreciation for him to you. I envy all who knew him or saw him onstage live. Eddie's talent doesn't diminish with time..Great art transcends it and his love of the theatre was one of passion. Eddie was a member of the famous Theatre Guild in New York City. He turned down Irving Thalberg and an MGM contract (an enormous amount of money) in order to continue acting on stage. When his last play did not draw an audience, he proclaimed: "I have been true to the Theatre, but who has been true to me?" Shortly after that, he was offered a contract by Hal Wallis at Warner Brothers. And the film that followed was titled: "Little Caesar."
