Now that I think of it, maybe it's Cagney in WHITE HEAT. He had a mother fixation (Margaret Wycherly), but I can't recall that actual scene.

To Norman Danis: Taking the liberty of responding to your question, the plot you discuss is not reminiscent of any Robinson film I know. He rarely had a mother on film (KID GALAHAD is one I can think of), and I cannot recall him ever visiting an old folks home. Maybe it was another actor.?

Edward G. Robinson made a comedy movie with a plot that, I believe, went like this: He was a gangster that went to visit his mother in an old folks home. Some local, small-time, gangsters were shaking the old folks down so Robinson's character took care of them. Can you please tell me the name of this movie? Thank you.

Christy: He slapped Hopkins hard at her suggestion and she probably was surprised he did it so forcefully. According to ALL MY YESTERDAYS, she was difficult, to say the least. But there are MANY sorts of talent out there.
