I wanted to say also. I had gone to Cape Cod many years ago with some friends and they had summer stock there. One night we went to see a play called "Come Blow Your Horn" and Jerome Cowan who had appeared in some of John Garfield's earlier movies was in the play, I don't remember what part he played. And as I was watching him, I'm thinking to myself, I am sort of in a room with an actor who knew John Garfield.

Hi Rocky,this is Lu, that is "Force Of Evil". Enjoy. I ordered "Pride Of The Marines" and "Hollywood Canteen" which I have received. Now I am going to order "Nobody Lives Forever" and "Humoresque". I ordered it from this website. I actually have them on VHS tape which I recorded but as I posted before, they are somewhere in my garage.

As I have mentioned in a previous posting, in between movies when they are advertising TCM or showing coming attractions of movies, John Garfield or any of his movies NEVER come up. I have NEVER seen an advertisement for ONE of his movies, even if Robert Osbourne thinks he was a great actor!!!!! Barbara, I, too, have my 45 records in my garage. They are in their original sleeves and record cases. I hope they are not getting moldie.

Since I haven't been to the movies in ages, I never heard of the movie with George Clooney called "Good Night & Good Luck" and there was actually somebody playing John Garfield in it? I must say, I am very surprised. As I mentioned a long time ago in a posting, there was a movied called "Fellow Traveler" which was supposed to be about John Garfield's life but when I watched it on cable, I couldn't see any similarity. By the way, TCM is having a series in August called "Summer Under The Stars". I wonder if any of his movies will be featured.

Boy, I have been looking at all the postings since Friday, I am really impressed with ALL I am reading. I haven't been on the computer too much last week because I have been kind of restricted in movement since I pulled a muscle in the bend of my leg a week ago last Saturday and my computer is on the second floor of my house. Thank God, I am starting to get back to normal. Again I want to thank Karen for the wonderful memorabilia she is putting online for us to see and my husband, Jim, for showing me how to cut and paste on the Internet, I enjoy it so much. It is wonderful reading about a movie based on John Garfield's life and who should play him. I also am SO happy to have found this website, hopefully courtesy of this website, he will be rediscovered again. He SO deserves it!!!!!

Dennis, you had great suggestions, unfortunately I only met Martin Scorcese once. He had a birthday party for my Uncle Jake at his apartment, The Galleria, in 1979. De Niro and Scorces got in touch with my Uncle Jake about ten years ago when his son was killed in a plane crash. My uncle recently moved to Miami, so I would have no idea how to reach Scorcese, sorry! JG's life would make a great film bio!!

My fav John Garfield movies are: Always a young kid I was fascinated with The Fallen Sparrow, love the NYC atmocphere, that dragging of the villans foot with that music still makes me shudder. Others are Body and Soul--Pride of the Marines ( an Oscar worth performance)--Out of the Fog (very menacing)--Castle on the Hudson (loved his punkiness-wise cracking)--Postman Always rings twice (sexy and swagger)

Having made this list that is purely subjective, it will probably change in time. I have seen everyone of his films besides Blackwell's Island. Between Garfield,Cagney,Robinson, Bogart and Tracy. I have seen about 275 of their films combined...
