Karen, how are you? I love when JG was talking about the plans too, and says say "goodbye to your girls," and that remark about the guava! He looked so handsome in this film, his hair was longer. I know Jennifer Jones is still living, but I read she is very fragile and kind of out of it. She must be about 90!

Hi all! Rocky, that was so nice to leave your jacket. One day I will make the trip. Barbara, I love Junior Bonner! I also watched We Were Strangers.I love the dialogue and voice of JG at the table discussing joining the group and then the plans. At first I was a bit "put off" from The accent Jennifer Jones had in this movie, but then I felt better about it. Jennifer Jones is still living.

Hi Barbara,,,I forgot to mention that on the main grave stone, someone placed a world peace sticker on the top of the right corner, I don't think it can be peeled off. I did not feel that great about that.

Hi all,how is everyone? I have been a bit busy in the last few weeks,so I did not have time to check in. Today was a nice Autumn day in NYC,so me and a few friends took a drive upstate to visit JG grave. I own a really nice jacket with JG name written on the back,so I took the jacket off and placed it over his marker. I like to think that maybe the essence of his soul and spirit will linger with me. It was a beautiful day all around.

Right now, I'm watching William Holden as "Golden Boy"! What a sin, JG didn't get the part, Holden is so miscast, worse yet was Luther Adler playing it on stage. I paid attention to the part of "Ziggy" the taxi driver, that was the part JG played on the stage.

Hi Linda Sue, have you seen any other Garfield films? Do you like any other classic stars? Have you just realized that there is a treasure trove of movies from the 30s, 40s, and 50's just waitng to be unwrapped by many new viewers? I suggest if any of this is true, you should take a look at the 1956 Inavasion Of The Body Snatchers. It is a great film that I think people in today's world have a big correlation too. Welcome to the group and thank God, you have avoided the pods so many bodies of today have been taken hold of. Just kidding of course. Once you discover classic film, you can never go back...

Here are the notes from the Telluride Film Festival for The Breaking Point. Alexander Payne (Academy Award winning screenwriter for "Sideways") chose this film as well as the 1930's weeper "Make Way for Tomorrow" and Robert Ryan's 1959 western "Day of the Outlaw" as part of the Forgotten Hollywood series. His notes: "JG in his penultimate film, young and hot Patricia Neal as the bad girl, and a very moving Phyllis Thaxter as Garfield's wife. Its succinct, taut style almost mirror Hemingway's prose, and the grim violence of the last reel leads to a devastating last shot". A copy was provided by Turner Classic Movies....sorry to say I missed seeing it!

For anyone who wants They Made Me A Criminal on DVD it is readily available as a cheapo DVD at any dollar store. One of the few Garfield DVDS readily available that are inexpensive. The TCM print of the movie which I saw last night is much better.Claude Raines was the best in the movie according to Garfield who really liked this movie himself. On the other hand, Raines didn't think too highly of it.....My rating of this movie on a 1-10 scale, I give it an 8. Definitely worthy of a viewing if you are Garfield and Raines fans. Ann Sheridan receives about 10 minutes of screen time and is killed off early....

Hi,,yesterday I went to the photo store to print out a real nice JG photo that I wanted in an 8" by 10" photo that I could frame,I was not sure how to use the machine,so there was a woman who showed my how to do it and when she saw the photo, she said that it looks like JG,I told her it was and she was like WOW,,so sinced she was doing it for me,I asked her if she wanted to print one for herself and she asked if she could make two because she had a friend who was into him also into him. I felt real good when I left the store. This was just a little story I wanted to share. Rocky If anyone wants to see the pic, this is the address http://www.meredy.com/johngarfield/images2.jpg

If anyone hasn't seen Murder My Sweet, it's a great film noir on at 6pm on TCM. I just went to a lecture on violence, gangsters and the "hays" censorship at the library! Very good film clips, unfortunately none of JG!
