Thank you, thank you for this site! I am a faraway fan of Ronald Colman, and latecomer, as I was born in the year he died and found his films only some time ago, although I like old films much more than new ones. My first RC film was Lost Horizon. I bought the restored dvd because my husband had loved the book, and then I had to get Random Harvest, and then I was totally smitten with him and his utterly lovable portrayal of Smithy! After this I have been hunting down every possible film he has ever done and loving him more and more, his charm and intelligence and and sensitivity and just about everything in him. But alas, though I have a dvd player which shows region 1 dvds, too many of RC's films (especially the silent ones) are available only in VHS / NTSC format which cannot be played here in Europe, and some, like Beau Geste, which I know I would love, I simply cannot find in any format. Can anybody help me in any way? Are there any dvds coming of these old films or do I have to contact some firm which converts NTSC to PAL to get, for example, If I Were King? Our tv has not shown any movie with this adorable man for about 20 years or more, nor has our film archive here given him any place in any of their series of old films. Boo hoo.

Ronald Colman is such a fine actor and his performances are so inspiring as well as entertaining to watch. His strength of character and manners are evident in all of his films and his real life too. He's a true gentleman in all of his films and was paired with some great leading ladies of the 30's and 40's. I'm so glad to see people of all ages admiring the work and great talent of Ronald Colman. God bless you Mr. Colman, you gave the world many entertaining and inspiring performances to watch and be moved by.
