Just viewed Shadow of the Thin Man & My Man Godfrey, both were great films. My first impression of Bill Powell whee he played the charcter "Doc" in the film Mr. Roberts with Henery Fonda, James Cagney, Jack Lemmon & Ward Bond. Fell in love with his style then and wanted to view more of his work so I rented the twko films I mentioned. Now I have stumbled upon this website and have found him to be quite a prolific screen star and cannot wait to view more of his work. Of what I have seen of his work it is like a snapshot of an era gone by with style in dress and character that were truly elegant. The dialoguge also is from a past era and should not be lost, full of humor and eloquence as well as a toughness from an era that saw the great depression. Love William Powell and will be searching out more of his films.
