Growing up , my parents always watched B&W movies and I too love them . I don't know how many times I've seen William Powell's Thin Man series-A lot! I really loved his acting and his suave ways. I was very sad when he died back in 84 (I was only 14 and had always dreamed of meeting him).I'm glad that his films live on and that he is so fondly remembered. He is definitely one of the greatest actors that ever existed in Hollywood

William Powell was not just a fine actor, he was a GREAT actor. His forte, of course, was sophisticated comedy, and for that we are truly grateful. The Thin Man was shown on Turner Classic Movies today. Once again I marvelled at Powell's total command of his material -and also at the work of the underrated director Woody Van Dyke, who was so instrumental in elevating Powell to stardom. My favorite Powell performance, however, was in Life with Father. Simply brilliant, simply perfect.

I had seen the Thin Man movies as a young girl, and thought Powell and Loy were just great together. I'm now discovering the rest of their movies. They definately had a friendship that was obvious on and off the screen.
