Also regarding the two messages just below: at least that language was outtakes back then - now it's part of the movie scripts!

To respond to the previous post about the "language" in the film outtakes. I can't defend Mr Powell or Ms Lombard or anyone else about these matters, but I hope you don't judge too harshly. We all have our "heroes" but they are human and maybe its best not to know everything about them, if we did we would have no heroes at all. I think the respect and admiration for these people over many years does say something for their positive traits, we must accept them for their flaws too.

This website is nice.
I just watched several of the outtakes from the special edition for My Man Godfrey. I came to this site to apologize publicly for ever saying I was a "fan" of William Powell or Carole Lombard. These actors, and apparently a few others along with them, had normally gutter mouths, replete with blasphemy (I couldn't find a single outtake without it). They were NOTHING like the classy characters they often portrayed.

My sister got me into old movies (I'm 26) about a year ago and after seeing My Man Godfrey, it was all over for me. I am now a die-hard William Powell fan and just seeing him on screen makes my heart stop. He is so funny, witty, charming and personable! In my book he's not only one of the best actors Hollywood has ever seen, but also one of the most under-rated. Every "new" movie of his I see shows just snother small glimpse into the personality of this marvelous man. Why couldn't I have been born 100 years earlier?
