Sherlock Holmes in training. OK, not really, but Basil Rathbone is a detective, nine years before his first Holmes venture.  In this early sound film he's Philo Vance, on the trail of a murderer who leaves nursery rhymes and chess pieces as clues.  Roland Young (of "Topper" fame) also stars.
